My Village by Rimzim Dadu FW 14-15
March 30, 2014
“Yes we are not a fan of uncomplicated things. And we don’t
really like technology.”- My village’s press release.
Rimzim took inspiration for My village’s FW 14 collection
from the famous Ikat weave of Gujarat, Patola and played with chevrons and
geometric floral patterns. Her brand, best known for unusual surface techniques
and beautifully moulded unconventional material, had shredded chiffon strips,
which were twisted into cord. The cords were cut into different sizes and
attached together to create interesting patterns. The construction was done by beautifully
sewing the color- blocked cords together.
The collection included Blotch cord skirt, mix cord sari
with woven cord blouse, cord appliques Tee-shirt, woven leather trench, chiffon
diamond patterned shirt dress, and leather cord sari with jersey blouse.
